Inform yourself about the health issues these dogs may have. Collie is a generally healthy breed of dogs. But they can get Gastric torsion, Dermatomyositis, Collie Eye Anomaly and the grey Collie syndrome.

Their stout bodies request much exercise. At least daily long walks are needed to keep them in good shape, both body and soul. They also like to play a lot and go along very well with children.

Another aspect you should consider is their training. These intelligent dogs can be easily trained. This way, the members of your family can easily interact with the Collie, using either simple or more complex commands.
