How to Train your Dog if they have Behavioral Problems

Training a dog can bring fun and excitement both to the owner and their pet dog. Many people adopt one because of their own personal reasons, but the most obvious reason why people buy one is because they would like to have a pet, a companion, a friend or a toy dog. In some rare cases, dogs are also used for sports; some are used as a watch dog or some as a working dog. Whatever the owner's intention is in having a dog, they should also be aware of their responsibilities of providing them their basic needs as well as their social and behavioral training.

Dog owner has an ongoing relationship with their pets. The relationship between a dog and their owner should also extend to the point that they are treated as the best friend or a part of their families. Some times, even the most behaved dog also has tendencies to become extremely naughty and have some behavioral problems. There are several reasons why dogs have behavioral problems. It may be because they often get hungry, they are not comfortable, or they are in ill or pain.

Here are some tips that you can do to have a well-behaved dog.

1. Keep them safe all the time. If we provide them a secure place where they can live comfortably and where they experience fun, it is seldom that the dog develops a behavioral problem. We should also provide toys that will keep them busy just like a ball or a chew toy.

2. Treat, praises and rewards, are always welcome but not excessive. We can give them small treats whenever they listen and obey any command or request whenever we train them. It will tell them that in order to get another teat, they must do well.

3. Although training a dog can be very time consuming, we must train our dogs every day. The longer the dog practices a certain trick, the better he gets it in time. From time to time, you should teach your dog new things so that both of you have an accomplishment.

4. Never ever use force or coercive manner like beating as a form of misbehavior. It will only worsen the case. Dogs also have their rights to be loved and protected from harm.

5. Let the dog undergo regular check up with their veterinarian so that they can see whether they are fit for training or not. Regular vaccination and examination will also ensure of their maximum health. In some instances, the vet will even teach you how to deal with them properly.

6. If you have a problem in training your dog, you can enroll them into dog training sessions with a licensed dog trainer. A great dog trainer can teach both dog and their owner how to respect each other. It will teach a dog to be obedient to their owner, and at the same time it will allow the dog owner to have an idea on how to teach their dogs. Any dog can learn a new trick or new behavior. The trainer or the owner just needs some patience in teaching the dog the right way to do it.

7. Aside from the reminders above, there are so many things that a dog owner must learn. They must also be calm and confident in dealing with your dog. Do not give rewards or treats unless the dog follows your commands. You should also teach them their territory in the house.

Thus, patience is the primary virtue that a dog owner must posses if they want to start training their dogs the right way to behave. To teach a dog the right way on how to behave is both beneficial to the owner and to the dog at the same time. Since there are instances wherein the behavior of the dog gets into our capacity, it is better for us to hire a dog trainer or enroll them for a dog training service.
