For the artist to paint the portrait in the studio, it would take around three weeks. Working on location would turn those three weeks of painting into only five days. When the artist drew a portrait of one famous actress, the actress loved it so much she made it the cover of her autobiography. There is just something flattering in the way the portraits are done, even if she herself doesn't flatter her subjects. Using a costume is a matter that both subject and artist must agree upon. Most often, she agrees to those who wish to wear their university robes or favorite dress for the portrait. She prefers an informal dress over a formal one for the portrait. Her subjects are given advice on the makeup to use and are instructed to make their hairdos at least a day old.

As she does the portrait, she talks to the subject who in turn responds to her. Observing the movement of her lips allows her to find the smile for the portrait. The subject's feelings of boredom come out in the portrait. To know whether to go for a formal or casual pose and how much of their body should be included in the shot, clients study a book of photographs that display the artist's work.

Also popular are sketches made with ink, oil, and tempera in sepia tones. Sometimes she does several sketches of a person on one canvas, the most detailed sketch being in the foreground, which is a charming way of portraying children. The result looks like a leaf from a sketch book. Her career started some 20 years ago during a show she had in New York with her sister, and the gallery owner wanted to hang a self portrait that the artist had made. It was the part of the show that was a major hit.
